Want to know something about me?
Alison (my ex) and I bought "Sandyhurst" in 1994 and moved in here with our children Rupert (1985),
April (1988) and Tom (1993) - born just a year before we moved in!
We had a great 10 years here but unfortunately Alison and I got divorced in 2004.
Alison is a dentist and at the time we had set-up a couple of Practices in the Chorleywood area.
I owned a number of communications companies in the Pharmaceutical and Healthcare sectors - I
have a science degree and I trained as an accountant with Arthur Andersen.
I sold these companies out in 1995 and effectively retired - always a bad thing to do too early - but I
used my time to build up a residential property portfolio which by luck rather than judgement I
seemed to do at exactly the right time (although now with the credit crunch, I'm beginning to wonder!).
Frithsden House has been a dream for me - when I was young I lived in a small terraced house near
to a Park - now its like having 5 acres of park all to myself.
If I still had my family living with me I would never consider selling. Now, in all honesty this place is too
big for just one person - and I don't want to wind up like Bill West, pacing around the garden in my
slippers ranting at my manservant for the next twenty years.
So at some point soon I'm either going to sell or rent out this place and take a trip around the world
while I'm still able to do it...
I've been lucky to get planning permission to build another 2000 sq feet onto here, making Frithsden
House into an 8000 sq ft "superhouse". That really ins unusual in an area of outstanding natural
everything...and whoever gets the option to build it out will be one lucky person....
